frame it friday

finally!  motivation to make this blog a wee bit more dynamic.  having ended my 52 project in january and starting a fb fanpage a month earlier, i've been pretty bad about updating my blog.  so, i was thrilled when my friends wendy (california) , shea (mississippi), and jobrina (arizona) decided to join together for a photo of the week blog post.  we'll be posting on fridays with links to eachothers work.  please stop by and see my frame it friday posts and link over to the lovely and talented photographers that are joining me!  just pure eyecandy - minus all the chat - along the lines of a wordless wednesday post that's popular among photog bloggers.

project 26 | challenge 3 | 13 | morning light

i rarely get a chance to shoot in the mornings with work and homelife as priority, but when the opportunity to shoot miss tulsa outstanding teen, julianne, came along, i was super excited to give morning light a try.  wrong day for that!  it was crazy windy and cold out, and as it turns out, it was an overcast morning, but this gorgeous teen was a trooper! 

for her shoot, i teamed with imaging consultant and local makeup artist, elizabeth hughes of amaranth collection to style her shoot. inspite of the chill in the air and high winds, we had a great time.  julianne is a dancer so i put in hints that i'd love to do a dance concept shoot with her one day.

i hope to give morning light another attempt over the next several weeks - a bit earlier next time and fingers crossed for less wind and a bit of sunlight!

i heart faces | march challenge | bw

super excited about i heart faces new monthly challenges.  i haven't participated in the weekly challenges in a while...but i'm excited to get back to it.  i opted to not look through my archives, but to just think about a b/w image that i thought spoke to me.

this is the one i that popped in my head...there is something so intense about her eyes that makes this an all time favorite of mine.

this image is from august of last year.  if i had to do it again today, i can see some things that i'd do differently when i look with a critical eye...but i'm opting it leave it as is.

i totally hate to admit it, but she looks much sweeter here than she's been behaving...praying it's just a stage...

if all else fails...at least she's cute...right?? j/k, but nia does provide a different challenge for me that the other two just don't.  while it doesn't always feel that way,  i know it's ok and that  it's part of  what makes her special...and definitely not forgotten... i've just got to figure out the best way to parent her unique strong willed personality.
