this week's theme is "old".  of course i waited until the last minute this week.  our group is considering revamping the theme list as some of us have been struggling for the past few weeks.  some of the themes are definitely challenging; however i love that i've had to think outside the my box.  one of my favorite things about this project and really photography in general, is that suddenly once i pick up my lens, i'm seeing things that have always been there from a totally different perspective and/or point of view.

last night we went to the library.  we have a really nice newer library near our home - hardesty regional library.  only hardesty isn't new.  hardesty  was previously located near my parent's home when i was growing up.  it was our library of choice.  when the library was relocated to its current location 8 years ago, the only structural element that was the same was a sculpture of a boy.

i love that  the sculpture was survived the relocation.  it reminds me of  the "old", what once was.  i have great memories of going to the library when i was younger and i totally remember taking pics next to the boy sculpture, but i'm sure they are long gone.

i did a bit of research last night on the sculpture and was suprised to find that the sculpture actually isn't as old as i would have guessed.  it is much younger than i am but was created in the year we moved to tulsa, so for me, it's always been.

the figure is a boy reading with a coke in his hand at what i now know is recess.  all those years and i never once took interest in what he was reading.  tonight, with my camera in hand, i did.  he's reading a popular science magazine.

and now for new...we have a new photographer who has joined our group, dana cubbage | modern lifestyle pet photographer.  we are so lucky to have her.  click over to her site, you'll be glad you did!

and - i'm finally posting my silhouette image from last week...and well... it kinda stinks.  but i'm posting it anyway :)

happy friday.

I love those statues. I've seen some sitting in city parks and each one is always interesting and different. I'm glad you thought of photographing him this week! :)
